My New Lap Top

We had the kid's naming ceremony on Saturday. We named him Sachin.

We named him so because of the following reasons, not that we needed any. :)
1. Anju definitely wanted to name him after a Hindu God. Sachin, it seems, is a synonym for Shiva.
2. I wanted to have a name that is more contemporary than other godly names, such as Sriram or Shankar.
3. The obvious reference to a modern God of cricket. It seems he was named so because his father was a fan of Sachin Dev Burman.
4. We wanted a name that was not easy to misspell or mispronounce.
5. The meaning of this name in Sanskrit is Sat+chin = good mind, pure, existence, essence.
6. None of the Sachins I know are despicable. In fact, they are mostly of good humor.
7. We liked it. And so did the few folks to whom we suggested this.

Here's wishing Sachin greatness in his chosen field.
